New district VFW commander from Gasport takes office

MEDINA – The VFW Lincoln Post in Medina was the setting for the swearing in of District ‘s new commander on Wednesday.
Dave Realick of Holley, quartermaster and past commander of District 7, conducted the ceremony in which Abe Zino of Gasport was sworn in as new commander. He replaces Roger Cordle of Lockport Post 2535, who recently stepped down.
Zino, who was senior vice commander of the district, has been a member of the VFW since 1999. He is also a member of Post 2535 in Lockport.
He joined after serving 28 ½ years in the Navy, retiring as a chief petty officer.
Joining the VFW is a great thing to do, Zino said, noting the fellowship and community service among the veterans.
