Medina, Lyndonville duos head All Area boys basketball team

Medina and Lyndonville have both placed two players on the first team of the annual OrleansHub All Area boys basketball squad.

Niagara-Orleans League champion Medina is represented by senior Tyler Ames and sophomore Jalin Cooper.

Lyndonville, which posted the area’s best record of 17-5, has placed senior Nick Hinkson and junior Eddie Schildt.

Rounding out the first team is Roy-Hart senior Andy Xapsos who led the area in scoring with 496 points for a 22.5 average.

Ames led Medina on the boards with 270 rebounds. He also scored 211 points (9.5 ave.) and had 49 blocks and 33 steals.

Cooper paced the Mustangs in scoring with 340 points for a 15.4 average. He also had 225 rebounds, 56 assists, 47 steals and 46 blocks.

Hinkson led Lyndonville in scoring with 371 points (16.9 ave.) He also had 158 rebounds, 138 assists and 55 steals.

Schildt, who led the Tigers in rebounds with 262, scored 329 points (15.0 ave.) and added 58 steals and 53 assists.

Roy-Hart’s Andy Xapsos rounds out the first team honorees.

Lyndonville also placed two players on the second team, juniors Eric Neace and Corey Hydock.

The second team also includes Kendall senior Jacob Ramsdell, Albion junior Tommy Mattison and Barker junior Nate Luckman.

Neace scored 252 points (11.5 ave. and had 129 rebounds, 30 assists and 16 steals.

Hydock tallied 213 points (9.7 ave.) and added 92 rebounds, 49 assists and 28 steals.

Ramsdell led Kendall in scoring with 292 points (13.9 ave.), rebounds with 168 and blocks with 133.

Mattison topped Albion in scoring with 265 points (13.3 ave.) and also had 117 rebounds, 67 steals and 42 assists.

Luckman paced Barker in scoring with 361 points for a 17.1 average.

Earning Honorable Mention to the team are senior Justin Morgan and junior Daryl Haynes from Medina, junior Kory Reynolds from Albion, senior Chris Anderson from Roy-Hart and junior Dylan Hillabush from Holley.
