Late rally lifts Roy-Hart past Attica

Putting together a huge rally in the final three minutes, Roy-Hart nipped Attica 59-58 in the consolation game of the Batavia Lions Club Tournament’s large school division this afternoon at Genesee Community College.

Trailing by 11 with three minutes to go, the Rams came battling back two pull out the win on a clutch three-point play by Jamel Johnson Jr. with just four seconds to go. His layup tied the game and the free throw provided the margin of victory.

Johnson Jr. scored 11 of his game high 18 points in the decisive final period which also included 6 points by Sam Bruning along with threes by both Jackson Webber and Rem Albee. Webber finished with 17, Albee 8 and Bruning and Justin Terwilliger 6 each.

Cole Harding scored 14, Jack James 13 and Landyn Thomas 10 for Attica which led 30-26 at the half and 41-33 after three quarters.

Improving to 4-3, Roy-Hart will next host Wilson in the Niagara-Orleans League season opener on Tuesday.

Elba 43, Medina 31
Elba downed Medina 43-31 in the small schools division colsolation game of the Batavia Lions Club Tournament at GCC this evening.

Connor Scott scored 13 of his game high 16 points in the second half to spark Elba which led 19-11 at the half and 27-21 after three quarters.

The Lancers locked up the win by outscoring the Mustangs 16-10 in the final period.

Aiden Pitts scored 10, Jerrell Nealy 8 and Justin Pitts 6 for Medina which next hosts Albion on Tuesday in the N-O League opener.
