Barker surges past host Alden; Attica outlasts Kendall in overtime

A big second quarter scoring burst keyed Barker to a 71-46 victory over host Alden in a non league boys basketball game this evening.

Leading 16-9 after the first quarter, Barker broke the game open in the second period out scoring Alden 17-1 to open up a commanding 33-10 halftime advantage as five players contributed to the point production.

Brad Cantrell scored 22 and Luey Castro 20 to lead the way for Barker as Aidan Mescall added 13, Aidan Voss 7, Dawson Donovan 6 and Jordan Leising 3.

The Raiders, which led 50-28 after three quarters, improve to 2-2 heading into Monday’s non league home opener against Byron-Bergen.

Attica 76, Kendall 72 (OT)

Attica outlasted host Kendall 76-72 in overtime this evening in the Genesee Region League season opener for the Eagles.

Trailing by 5 with just 8 seconds remaining in regulation time, Kendall rallied to tie the game at 66-66 and force overtime on a three by Jacek Kwiatkowski and two free throws by Devin Edick.

However, Attica outscored Kendall 10-6 in overtime to claim the win as Cole Harding tallied 6 points.

Harding finished with a game high 33 including 14 in the fourth quarter.

Edick finished with 28, including 6 threes, and Kwiatkowski 22, including 7 threes. to pace Kendall.
