Turnovers stymie Tigers, Mustangs in losses
Forcing a rash of turnovers with a very effective pressing defense, Notre Dame rolled to a 76-32 win over host Lyndonville this evening in the Genesee Region League opener for both teams.
Ryan Fitzpatrick scored a game high 19, Jaden Sherwood 15 and Jordan Welker 14 to lead a parade of 11 point getters for Notre Dame.
Trenton Muck scored 16 and Mason Nicholson 9 to lead Lyndonville.
Five straight turnovers to open the game set an ominous tone for the Tigers as the Irish went on to build up leads of 15-6 after the first quarter, 34-12 at the half and 62-24 after three quarters.
Notre Dame is now 3-0 overall and Lyndonville 0-3.
Holland 80, Medina 34
Building up a 31-16 half-time advantage, Holland went on to defeat Medina 80-34 this evening in the Mustangs non league season opener.
Jerrell Nealy and Roosevelt Mitchell both scored 8 and Cayden Lilleby 6 for Medina which likewise was plagued by a rash of nearly two dozen turnovers.
The Mustangs open the home portion of the season next Tuesday with a non league game against Maritime.
