Elba spikers outlast Lyndonville in 5 sets; Newfane downs Roy-Hart

In a sea-saw battle, Elba outlasted host Lyndonville in five sets 21-25, 25-12, 16-25, 25-20, 15-3 in a Genesee Region League volleyball match this evening.

Halie Scouten served up points 10-15 to close out the decisive fifth set for Elba.

Elba rallied to tie the match at 2-2 by taking the fourth set as Mariah Ognibene scored points 18-20 and Adison Norton 22-25.

Lyndonville grabbed the early lead by taking the first set as Lorelei Dillenbeck served up an ace for point 23 and Addison Dillenbeck registered her fifth spiking kill of the set for point 24.

Elba did answer back to take the second set and tie the match at 1-1 as Alexa Ocampo served up points 4-9, Sydney Reilly 18-21 and Norton 23 and 24.

Lyndonville regained the lead for the last time by taking the third set as Ashlee Stephens scored points 1-6 and Lorelei Dillenbeck 11-20 including 5 aces.

Scouten finished with 5 blocks and 4 kills, Ocampo 5 aces and 3 kills and Ognibene 4 aces and 2 Blocks.

For Lyndonville, Stephens had 20 assists and 9 digs, Lorelei Dillenbeck 9 aces and 6 kills and Addison Dillenbeck 10 kills and 3 aces.

In another G-R match, Pembroke defeated Kendall 25-12, 21-25, 25-13, 25-12.

Newfane 15-25-25-26, Roy-Hart 25-15-22-24
Emma Hoffer had 22 digs and 1 ace, Charley Buscaglia 6 aces, Lauren Bax 6 kills and 2 aces and Rese Rutherford 7 kills and 1 ace to lead host Newfane to a four set win over defending champion Roy-Hart.

Sam Albright had 10 kills and Alex Stern 5 kills and 4 aces for Roy-Hart.

Newfane is now 3-1 and Roy-Hart 2-2

Akron 25-25-25, Medina 20-15-18
Undefeated (4-0) Akron scored a straight set win over visiting Medina which is now 1-3.

Ki’Mani Poole had 4 kills and Maddy Rutledge and Hailey Wilkins 2 each for Medina as Lorelei Sanders had 3 aces and 4 assists.
