Win locks up division title for Raptors

Putting a lock on the title, the Holley Raptors downed host Lakeland 3-2 today in a girls U19 Division Rochester District Youth Soccer League game.

The Raptors improve to 8-1 (24 points) with the title clinching victory. They will close out the season against runner-up Gananda (6-1-2, 20 points) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at SUNY Brockport.

Alezya Brown had 2 goals, Olivia Krenning 1 and Abby Scanlan 2 assists to lead the offense for the Raptors.

The Raptors held a slender 1-0 lead at the half as Krenning scored off an assist from Scanlan.

Liv Eaton made a big save in goal on a 1 on 1 play at the top of the box to keep the Raptors on top at the half.

The Raptors upped the lead to 3-0 in the second half on a pair of goals by Brown.

A short corner by Scanlan to Aurora Serafin started the first scoring chance. Serafin passed the ball back to Scanlan and on a cross the Lakefront goalie the tipped the ball behind the goal. Brown then came up with a big finishing play to make it 2-0.

What proved to be the game winning tally again started with a corner by Scanlan. Lilly Lashomb then put a shot off the cross bar and Brown again came up big scoring on a header at the goal line to make it 3-0.

Lakefront did make the finish interesting by scoring twice first on a breakaway and then on a free kick.
