Former long time Lyndonville High varsity baseball coach John Hayes will be inducted into the Section V Baseball Hall of Fame in ceremonies at Rochester’s Frontier Field at 11:30 a.m. on July 31 prior to the Red Wings 1:05 game.

Hayes guided the Lyndonville diamond squad for 23 years (1979-2001) during which time his Tiger teams captured 8 Genesee Region League Division titles and four Section V championships (1982, 1983, 1994, 1996) winning over 250 games.

“I am extremely honored and humbled at the thought of such a great honor. Since many have been so instrumental in my baseball career, I feel that this should be directed to all and not just me,” said Hayes. “It takes more than a coach to have success and I have been blessed with the “best” support group that any one could ask for. Nan, Chris, Libbie, grandchildren, members of the Hayes and Partrick families, LCS administration and faculty, Mark Hughes my JV/Assistant coach, Shane Price my replacement as varsity coach, the Genesee Region League, and most important, the players, whether we won or lost, that I have had the honor of coaching over the years.”

Anyone interested in attending the induction ceremony can contact Pat Mee for reservations at omee720@yahoo.com or 585-704-3214. Tickets, which will include a picnic buffet and a ticket to the Red Wings game,F are $40 for adults and $25 for children 5-12. Reservations must be made by July 22.
