Banes, Jr. Wilson 1 score twin bill sweeps

Banes and Jr. Wilson I both scored doubleheader sweeps in Medina Women’s Softball League action Monday evening.

Banes defeated White Birch 17-16 and NYSCOPBA 25-15 and Jr. Wilson I bested Hemp House/810 Meadworks 13-5 and White Birch 8-3.

Banes 17, White Birch 16
Banes scored 4 runs in the sixth inning to claim the narrow win. A home run by Morgan Allis ignited the uprising which also included a double by Lindsay Chatt, a single by Connie Heschke and a sacrifice fly by Kathy Allen which plated the game winning run.

Lindsay Chatt, Grace Masse and Sue Seefeldt each had 3 hits as Allen and Jami Chatt both had 2. Jami Chatt’s hits included a home run. Lindsay Chatt had 2 doubles and Masse and Seefeldt 1 each.

Banes 25, NYSCOPBA 15
Morgan Allis had a grand slam home run for Banes as Allen and Masse also both had homers. Allen and Amy Allis both had 3 hits.

Jr. Wilson 1 13, Hemp House/810 Meadworks 5
Hemp/810 came to the plate with hot bats in the top of the 1st inning, scoring two runs on five hits including a double from Melissa Pierce and Alisha Foss. Jr. Wilson’s answered with four runs in the bottom of the first on hits from Jessica Rosenbeck, Stormi Kruger, and a double off the bat of Jodi Zacher.

Jr. Wilson’s added three more runs in the third, and a two-run triple from Kruger highlighted a four run fourth inning to increase their lead by seven. Hemp/810 was held scoreless through four innings and then scored one run on a double from Kelly Jo Pritchard in the top of the seventh, but could not complete the comeback.

Jr. Wilson 1, 8, White Birch 3
In game two, Jr. Wilson’s jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles from Jaclyn Guzdek and Kruger. Added three more runs in the third after a lead off single from Guzdek, a double from Sara Flansburg, and singles from Sharon Korzelius, Michele Crandall, and Connie Hornquist.

White Birch chipped away at the lead, scoring one run in the fourth, and two runs in the sixth. A single from Maddy Boyle and a home run from Alecia Hinkson in the sixth kept the game close. Jr. Wilson’s though scored two more runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away. Guzdek and Kruger both finished with three hits

.Jr. Wilson’s is now 6-2 in league play.
