Banes, Jr. Wilson 1 score twin bill sweeps

In a pair of high scoring games, Banes swept to a doubleheader victory over White Birch by scores of 19-4 and 17-5 Monday evening in Medina Women’s Softball League action.

A huge 13 run third inning scoring explosion, highlighted by two home runs by Robin Blaun, keyed Banes to the win in the opener.

Connie Heschke had 4 hits and Blaun and Morgan Allis 3 each to lead the Banes attack as Lindsay Chatt, Amy Allis, Jen Masse and Rileigh McCabe each had 2. Masse’s hits included a triple.

Alex Harling had 2 hits including a double for White Birch.

In the second game, Banes scored 4 runs in both the third and fourth innings and 5 in the fifth to complete the twin bill sweep.

A home run by Blaun, along with triples by Heschke, Jen Masse, Patti Page and Grace Masse and a double by Jami Chatt, highlighted the offense. Heschke finished with 3 hits as Blaun, Lindsay Chatt, Jami Chatt, Morgan Allis, Jen Masse and Grace Masse each chipped in with 2.

Maddy Boyle had a double for White Birch.

Jr. Wilson 1 wins 13-5, 15-3

Jr. Wilson 1 scored two wins in a Monday night’s women’s softball doubleheader, beating Hemp House/810 Meadworks 13-5 and NYSCOPBA 15-3.

In the first game, 810 scored three runs in the top of the first on hits from Melissa Prince, Randi Scholes, Alisha Foss, Halle Deuil, and Cathy Schmitt. Jr. Wilson’s 1 answered back with one run in the bottom of the first and added three more in the bottom of the second to take the lead for good.

Jr. Wilson’s scored seven runs in the bottom of the 4th inning on hits from Jessica Rosenbeck, Jaclyn Guzdek, Sara Flansburg, Jodi Zacher, and a bases clearing double from Sharon Korzelius. 810 scored two more runs in the top of the 5th on a two run double from Deuil, but were held scoreless the remainder of the game.

Rosenbeck finished the game with 3 hits, including two doubles, and Guzdek finished with 3 hits, including a triple in the 2nd inning.

In the second game, Jr. Wilson’s 1 jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first, after a triple from lead off hitter Lizzy Zacher and a two run home run from Rosenbeck. A walk to Guzdek and two singles from Flansburg and Connie Hornquist put three runners on as Chasity Chinn stepped to the plate and belted a three run double to right center.

Jr. Wilson’s 1 added three runs in the fifth on a home run by Chinn, and tacked on four more runs in the sixth for the mercy run rule win on a triple by Flansburg and singles from Jodi Zacher and Penny Roath.

Chinn finished the game 3-4 with two doubles and a home run, while Lizzy Zacher also finished 3-4 with a triple and a double.
