Big first inning keys Purple Eagles win

Exploding for eight runs in the first inning Albion went on to blank visiting Barker 12-0 this afternoon to regain the .500 mark at 5-5 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition.

A two-run double by winning pitcher Amari Jones along with an RBI double by Javon Jones and two-run singles by both Brendan Lebaron and Chris Sacco highlighted the decisive first inning uprising.

The Purple Eagles tacked on three runs in the third inning on a two-run double by Tyler Gibson and an RBI double by Lebaron and one in the fourth on a home run by Caleb Fox.

On the mound, Amari Jones gave up just 2 hits and struck out 8 over the five innings of the run rule contest.

The loss drops Barker to 2-8.
