Medina Unified basketball downs Lew-Port

The Medina Unified Basketball Team improved to 2-0 with a 44-24 win over Lewiston-Porter today.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first quarter, led by Malikiah McGill’s 6 points. Brooke Shingleton added 4 while Brennan Hinckley, Matthew Kennedy and Jackson Tuohey all had two points. McGill also had a blocked shot.

Medina moved farther ahead in the second quarter. Outscoring the Lancers 12-2, the home team showed a balanced attack. McGill and Shingleton scored 4 points each, Tuohey 2, and Steven Secore 2. The Mustangs led at halftime, 28-9.

Leading 32-16 heading into the fourth quarter, Medina pushed their lead to 20 points by putting up a 12-8 advantage in the last quarter. Jackson Tuohey had 8 points in the period while Matthew Kennedy and Thomas Miesch each had two.

Medina’s next game is at 5 p.m. Friday at home against Lockport.
