Win caps third straight 6-0 boys N-O track championship season for Purple Eagles

Capping off a third straight 6-0 title season, Albion bested host Wilson 85-56 this afternoon to close out the Niagara-Orleans League boys track dual meet season.

Brian Spall was a double winner in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles for Albion which also got individual event victories from Sh’kwe Riley (400), Orion Groth (800), Ozzie Matos (200) Brendan Lebaron (Shotput) and Jahmeek Riley (High Jump).

Paul Smith was a triple winner for Wilson in the 100, Long Jump and Triple Jump while Jayden Ruble doubled in the 1600 and 3200.

Wilson did gain a split on the day by downing Albion in the girls’ meet 74-62.

Maddie Schultz was a triple winner in the High Jump. 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles for Wilson as Madelyn Jowdy doubled in the 800 and 1500.

For Albion, Abby Scanlan won both the 100 and 200, S’koi Sanders the Triple Jump and 400, Bri Haines the Pole Vault and Lilly Zambito the Discus.

Newfane girls Claim N-O title
A classic regular season clash of unbeatens between 5-0 Newfane and 5-0 Akron this afternoon came down to the final relay event to decide the N-O girls’ track championship.

Newfane’s quartet of Steph Chunco, Anna Chunco, Cat Ersing and Leah Siegmann scored a victory in that 1600 relay to earn the Lady Panthers the title.

Mel Myers was a triple winner on the day for Newfane in the Long Jump, High Jump and Triple Jump while Akron’s Lauren Wagner doubled in the 800 and 1500.

Newfane also downed Akron in the boys’ meet 93-48.

Max Czekj doubled in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles for Newfane as did Will Chubb in the 1600 and 3200 for Akron.
