Albion avenges softball loss to Medina

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Leah Pritchard registered 12 strikeouts to lead Albion past visiting rival Medina this evening.

Avenging an early season 4-3 loss, Albion blanked visiting rival Medina 12-0 this evening to regain the .500 mark at 4-4 in Niagara-Orleans League softball competition.

Leah Pritchard hurled a 3 hitter with 7 strikeouts to lead the way for Albion. She is now only 3 strikeouts short of 200 for her career.

Albion’s Mackenzie Snook slides into third base as Medina’s Rylee VanNostrand awaits the throw.

Mackennzie Snook and Madison Hughson both banged out 3 hits for the Purple Eagles as Maya Knaak and Kenzi Hapeman each had 2. Snook’s hits included a double and two triples and Knaak’s a triple. Snook drove in a total of 3 runs and Hughson and Knaak 2 each.

Eva Lacy, Faith Oberther and Juliana Allis each had a hit for Medina.

The contest was Albion’s first “Strike Out Cancer” contest with donations going to the Knights-Kaderli Memorial Fund.

Roy-Hart 12, Newfane 0
Reanna Perkins hurled a 2 hitter with 12 strikeouts for front-running Roy-Hart which improves to 7-0.

Peyton May had 2 hits and Marissa Scott a two-run single for Roy-Hart as Perkins chipped in with a double and Molly Russell and Juliana Buscarino each had a single.

Barker 12, Akron 5
Peyton Bradley registered 12 strikeouts in the circle and also banged out 4 hits to lead Barker past Akron.

Natalie Brandel added 3 hits and Lilly Monthony and Aaliyah Wheat 2 each for the Lady Raiders.

N-O Standings: Roy-Hart 7-0, Barker 4-2, Wilson 4-3, Albion 4-4, Akron 3-4, Newfane 1-5, Medina 1-6

In Genesee Region League softball action, Alexander defeated Kendall 10-3 and Attica downed Holley 23-6.
