Grand Island stickmen edge Medina

Grand Island trimmed Medina 9-7 in an interdivisional lacrosse game this morning.

Jake Rissew scored 3 goals, Josh Wilson 2 and Cayden Lilleby and Zaric Boyce 1 each for Medina which is now 3-5.

The host Vikings held leads of 3-2 after one quarter, 5-3 at the half and 6-5 after three quarters.

Medina next hosts Depew in a Class D Division game at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Track
Lockport swept visiting Roy-Hart in a non league track meet. The Lions won the boys’ meet 68-62 and the girls’ competition 84-48.

For Roy-Hart, Nadia White was a triple winner in the 800, Long Jump and Triple Jump and Brandon Allen doubled in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles.

Tennis
Defending champion Akron blanked Newfane 5 1/2-0 today to improve to 5-0 in Niagara-Orleans League tennis competition.

Singles wins by the trio of Will Chubb, Caleb Suckow and Emma Corbett led the way for the Tigers.
