Hawks to host soccer tournaments this week
Holley’s Woodlands Field will be busy this week as the Hawks will be hosting both boys and girls soccer tournaments.
The boys’ tournament will get underway on Tuesday as Albion takes on Alden at 4:30 p.m. and Holley faces Perry at 6:30 p.m. The consolation and championship games will be held at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The girls’ tournament begins on Wednesday with Roy-Hart vs. Alden at 4:30 p.m. followed by Holley vs. CG Finney at 6:30 p.m. The consolation and championship games will be held at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Coming off big seasons last fall, both teams return a good nucleus of veterans. The Lady Hawks went 12-2-2 and the Hawks 11-4-1.
The Hawks squad is led by seniors Broek Ostrom (Goalie), Kalen Brady (Midfield), Nick Mandigo (Defender), Mason Neale (Midfield), Caleb Schultz (Defender), James Tette (Forward) along with junior Cameron Bates (Forward) and sophomore Lorenzo Zaraguza (Forward).
Holley’s graduation losses included the Genesee Region League All-Star quartet of KJ Biedlingmaier, Nathan Nothnagle, Kayden Servais and Charlie Turpyn.
The Lady Hawks likewise are sparked by a group of seven returnees including seniors Tatum Gagne (Forward) and Sara Kingdollar (Midfield) and junior Emma Downey (Forward) along with sophomores Samantha Bates (Midfield/Forward), Isabella Thom (Defender/Midfield), Joslyn Bishop (Defender/Midfield) and Emma Brady (Goalie). Bares scored 15 goals last season.
The Lady Hawks graduation losses included G-R All-Stars Kayleigh Neale and Halee Passarell who scored 10 and 9 goals respectively.
