Rams soccer teams prep to defend N-O titles
Last fall was a very special one for the Roy-Hart soccer program as both the Rams and Lady Rams captured Niagara-Orleans League championships.
The Rams posted a 7-3 record to claim their second N-O title while the Lady Rams shared their first ever N-O crown with Wilson at 8-2.
Both teams return a strong nucleus with which to defend those titles.
The Lady Rams boast a large group of returnees including seniors Kara Choate, Brooke Livergood, Reanna Perkins, Ryan Hiller and Ava Owens; juniors Grace Parker, Amelia Konstanty, Ada Livergood, Nadia White, Grace Trombley, Alexis Seib and Hannah Giroux.
Choate, who scored 18 goals, and White both earned first team N-O All-League honors. Parker was a second team pick and Konstanty an Honorable Mention selection.
“We’re excited for the season to start,” said Coach Rich Jennings. “We return a lot of experience and we’re looking to build on what we did last year. We’re definitely hungry.”
Roy-Hart’s graduation losses include second team N-O honorees Cecilia Santos, Maddy Colley and Clara Jones along with Rileigh McCabe, Shelby Wolfe, Mya Quinn and Hanna Willard.
The Lady Rams will host Pembroke on Monday and then compete in the Holley Tournament on Wednesday and Friday before beginning their N-O title defense at Akron on September 7.
The Rams likewise have a large veteran contingent including seniors Trent Choate, Elijah Giroux, Christian Lates, Zach Livergood, Brandon Masters, Brett Ricker and Nick Gutierrez; juniors Aiden Guild, Peter Martillotta and Zach Walker along with sophomores Landen Guild and Jayden Swyggert.
Choate, who scored 13 goals last fall, and Martillotta, who netted 9 goals, both earned first team N-O All-League honors. Guild was a second team selection while Lates and Ricker both earned Honorable Mention.
“It’s a good nucleus of returning starters,” said Coach Greg Martillotta. “There is no substitute for experience and we’re looking forward to the season.”
Roy-Hart’s graduation losses include first team N-O honoree Dom Peracciny, second team selections Aidan Bligh and Noah Stern and Honorable Mention pick Brad Voelker along with Hunter Babel and Dillon Giertz.
The Rams will visit Lockport on September 1 and host Pembroke on September 3 before opening defense of their N-O title at home against Akron on September 8.
