Medina All-Stars down host Albion
Scoring three quick runs in the top of the first inning the Medina All-Stars went on to trim host Albion 9-7 this evening in a 12U contest at Sandstone Park.
A single by Anthony Reese ignited Medina’s opening inning uprising as three bases loaded walks plated the runs.
Albion answered right back with two runs in the home half of the frame on singles by Oliver Tobias and Bing Zuber and an error but would get no closer.
Medina upped the advantage to 7-2 by scoring four times in the third inning as Hadrian Bautista and Preston Woodworth both had triples and Zach Graham a two-run double.
Albion picked up one run in the third on a fielders choice play but then left the bases loaded in the fourth.
Medina later scored what proved to be the decisive two runs in the top of the sixth on a single by Aleks Seefeldt, an RBI triple by Woodworth and a fielders choice play off the bat of Graham for a 9-3 lead.
Albion answered back with three runs in the home half of the inning to cut the deficit to 9-6 on a bases loaded walk and a two-run single by Gavin Boyce. Singles by Noah Harrison and Colin McMullen and a walk loaded the bases to set up the threat.
Albion then got the first two batters aboard in the bottom of the seventh on an error and a single by Elliot Trapiss, his second hit of the contest, but could score only once on an RBI single by Colin McMllen, his third hit of the day.
The Medina lineup also included Timmy Vasquez, Carlos Doval, Lex Gray, Trey Rhim, Lathan McEwen-Miller, Brylee Allen and Tyler Raduns.
The Albion squad also included Drew Pritchard, Liam Leader, Omer Fugate, Logan Scott-Grager and Wesley LeFrois.
The two All-Star teams will meet again at Medina’s Vets Park at 8 p.m. Saturday.
