Severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 8 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Orleans County and Western New York until 8 p.m. today. There is also a wind advisory in effect until 6 p.m.
The thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall which may cause flooding today, the National Weather Service in Buffalo said.
There is also a high swim risk along the beaches of Lake Ontario tonight.
The wind advisory includes Niagara, Orleans, Genesee and northern Erie with south winds 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
