No. 15 Geneseo upsets No. 2 Lyndonville
Eight errors and nine stranded base runners proved to be a fatal combination for No. 2 seed Lyndonville as the Tigers were upended 7-5 by visiting No. 15 Geneseo this afternoon in a Section V Class C2 pre quarterfinal round game.
Geneseo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by scoring once in the first on an error and twice in the third on a single by Nicholas Staley and a sacrifice fly.
Lyndonville though answered back to score four time in the home half of the third on an RBI double by Rolland Balcerzak, a fielders choice play and two errors to give the Tigers what proved to be their only lead at 4-3. Singles by Anthony Moule and Casey Winiecki set up that threat.
The Blue Devils pulled even with an unearned run in the fourth and then regained the lead for good with two unearned runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh.
Lyndonville’s only other run came in the bottom of the seventh as the Tigers left two runners stranded in each of the final three innings.
Nathan Dillenbeck banged out a two out triple for Lyndonville in the opening inning but was left stranded setting an ominous tone for the Tigers.
The Tigers finish the season at 11-4.
