Albion boys score key track win over Newfane
The Albion boys track team cleared a major hurdle this afternoon in route to defending their Niagara-Orleans League track title as the Purple Eagles rolled to a 98-43 victory over host Newfane.
Chris Shabazz was a triple winner in the Long Jump, High Jump and Triple Jump while Tony Freeman doubled in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles, Reuben Rivers in the 1600 and 3200 and Dominic DiGuilio in the Shotput and Discus to lead the way for Albion.
The Purple Eagles also got individual event wins from Junior Morales (Pole Vault), Yeshua Robles Nunez (100) and Sh’kwe Riley (800).
Albion is now 3-0 and Newfane 1-1.
Newfane did gain a split on the day by capturing the girls’ meet 97-44.
Melanie Myers was a triple winner in the Long Jump, High Jump and Triple Jump for Newfane as Rachel Chunco doubled in the 200 and 400 and Taylor Heschke in the 800 and 1500.
For Albion, Claire Squicciarini took the 100, Bri Haines the Pole Vault and Emilee Boring the Discus.
Newfane is now 2-0 and Albion 1-2.
Roy-Hart splits with Akron
Roy-Hart defeated Akron 86-50 in an N-O boys track meet as Brandon Allen was a triple winner in the 110 Hurdles, 400 Hurdles and High Jump and Jay Heideman doubled in the 1600 and 3200.
Akron got double win efforts from Evan Wieszala (Long Jump, Triple Jump) and Alex Boyer (Shotput and Discus).
Akron gained a split on the day by winning the girls’ meet 91-50 as Lauren Wagner was a triple winner in the 800, 1500 and 3000 and Sydney Brandl doubled in the 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles.
Roy-Hart’s Nadia White was a triple winner in the 400, Triple Jump and Long Jump.
Wilson sweeps Barker
Wilson defeated Barker 82-40 in the boys’ meet and 71-63 in the girls’ competition.
In the boy’ meet Jared Jaques was a quadruple winner in the 110 Hurdles, 400 Hurdles, Long Jump and Triple Jump and Andrew Stover doubled in the Shotput and Discus. For Barker, Dawson Donovan doubled in the 200 and 400.
In the girls’ meet, Maddie Schultz won the 100 Hurdles, 400 Hurdles and 100 and Jen Reagan the 1500 and 3000 for Wilson while Madison Gancasz took the Pole Vault and Discus for Barker.
