Residents displaced by fire on Main Street in Barker
BARKER – Several residents have been displaced after a fire on Main Street in Barker today, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office is reporting.
The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received multiple 911 calls at about 2 p.m. reporting smoke and fire coming from the top floor from a multi-dwelling complex at 8703 Main St.
All parties were safely evacuated. One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The fire was subsequently extinguished by members of the Barker VFD, assisted by Hartland, Lyndonville, Olcott, Wrights Corners, and Miller Hose Fire Departments.
An investigation into the cause of the fire by the Niagara County Origin and Cause Team is underway. All parties living in the complex have been displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting those families.
