ALBION – The Albion Midget League celebrated the start of its season today at the field behind Town Hall on Clarendon Road.

Liam Ward, 11, of the Barre Cubs throws out the ceremonial first pitch to his father, Scott Ward, who is coach for the Cubs.

Liam’s grandfather Chuck Ward recently died. He was a coach for 25 years for the Knights of Columbus team.

Joe Sacco sings the National Anthem. Sacco has two grandsons – Nicholas and Christopher Sacco – playing for the Sandstone Park team.

Members of the combined Carlton Clippers and Albion Elks team, which joined for the first time this season, take turns introducing themselves at opening ceremonies for the Albion Midget League. Bryan Catlin, a coach from Carlton, is one of the team’s coaches this year. The league added a team from Holley to maintain eight teams total.

Dan Bartlett, coach of the Sandstone Park team, holds the microphone while his players introduce themselves. Sandstone was undefeated last year.
