HOLLEY – A fire damaged a Holley house used for seasonal farmworkers on Route 31 in the village. Holley firefighters said they house was currently vacant.

They were dispatched to 9 Wright St. at 4:54 p.m. and were joined by fire companies from neighboring communities.

Ron Meiers operates the Holley ladder truck. The ladder allowed firefighters to get up high at the attic.

Holley fire officials said there was heavy smoke on the second floor, which spread to the attic. Firefighters would cut into the roof and a window in the attic to try to ventilate the house.

The site is between the U.S. Post Office and Holley Presbyterian Church. A section of Route 31 was closed so firefighters could put out the fire.
