Orleans could get 2-5 inches, with other parts of WNY forecast for up to 18 inches

Orleans County and Western New York should have a white Christmas. It has been raining today in Orleans County with a high near 50.

But that will start to change later this evening. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Orleans and Niagara counties, from 7 p.m. today until noon on Christmas, with 2 to 5 inches of snow expected and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch.

“Plan on very slippery road conditions due to the combination of mixed precipitation and snow,” said the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

The high temperature for Orleans County is forecast to be 30 on Christmas.

Other Western New York counties – Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua – are forecast for 9 to 18 inches of snow.
