Sectional playoff lineups have different looks
Neighboring Sections V and VI are taking different approaches in setting the field for the upcoming soccer playoffs.
Just as in past years Section V is conducting an open sectionals for boys and girls soccer with all teams eligible. The seeding meetings scheduled for this coming Sunday.
The Section V playoffs are slated to get under way with a pre quarterfinal round on November 10-11 The finals are slated for November 20-21.
Section VI is limiting its playoff field to teams with at least a .500 league record for boys and girls soccer and field hockey. The soccer seeding meetings are scheduled for Saturday and the field hockey meeting for Friday.
The Niagara-Orleans League has four teams qualified for the boys soccer sectionals including Roy-Hart (7-3), Akron (6-3-1), Newfane (6-4) and Medina/Lyndonville (5-3-1). Wilson at 4-5 needs a win to qualify.
The boys soccer playoffs have the quarterfinals slated for November 10, the semifinals for November 12 and the finals for November 14.
In girls soccer three N-O teams have qualified including Wilson (8-1), Roy-Hart (7-2) and Albion (7-3).
The girls soccer playoffs have the quarterfinals scheduled for November 9, the semis for November 11 and the finals for November 14.
Three N-O teams have also qualified for the field hockey playoffs including Akron (10-1), Barker (9-1) and Roy-Hart (6-4-1).
The field hockey playoffs have the quarterfinals slated for November 9, the semis for November 12 and the finals for November 14.
In both Sections’ V and VI the higher seed will host games through the finals.
