Jacobs will be sworn in as congressman today
Chris Jacobs is scheduled to take the oath of office this morning as the area’s new congressman.
The 27th Congressional District has been without a representative since Chris Collins resigned on Sept. 30.
Jacobs won a June 23 special election against Nate McMurray. The two will face off again in November for a full two-year term. The district includes eight counties in Western New York, including Orleans.
Jacobs is giving up a seat as state senator to serve in Congress. He has previously been Erie County clerk and a member of the Buffalo Board of Education.
Jacobs won Orleans County with 4,068 votes to 2,069 for McMurray. That includes in-person voting and absentee ballots.
