Shampine has edge over Hanlon for county clerk; Jacobs far ahead in 27th in Orleans
ALBION – Diane Shampine has a slight lead over Nadine Hanlon in the race for Orleans County clerk, based on votes at the polls today.
Shampine has 1,083 votes to Hanlon’s 1,029 in the Republican primary.
However, there are at least 1,270 absentee ballots to be counted. The Orleans County Board of Elections will start counting those ballots on July 1. More ballots could arrive in the coming days. They will be counted as long as they are postmarked by today.
In the race for the 27th Congressional District, Chris Jacobs has a big lead over Nate McMurray in Orleans County. Jacobs, running with the Republican and Independence lines, has 2,804 votes to McMurray’s 674, among Orleans County voters today and in early voting. McMurray is running as a Democrat and with the Working Families Party.
There are 2,594 absentees received so far for the special election.
Jacobs also was in a Republican primary. He had a commanding lead in Orleans County with 1,775 votes to 472 for Beth Parlato and 230 for Stefan Mychajliw.
