Thunder Hawks surge past Mustangs

Fast breaking at every opportunity, Tapestry posted an 85-71 victory over host Medina in a non league game this evening.

Tariq Eubanks scored 30, Massai Graham 19 and Romeo Bell 16 to spearhead the attack for Tapestry which improves to 5-1.

Nate Sherman scored a career high 32 to lead Medina as Tyler Chinn had 15, Brian Fry 13, Dontae Rhim 7 and Jarin Rhim 4.

Medina did get off to a quick start jumping out to a nine point, 25-16, first quarter lead as Sherman and Chinn both scored 9.

The Thunder Hawks answered with a 15-5 run to open the second period to rally into a 31-30 lead.

However, the Mustangs countered with an 8-0 run on threes by Fry and Chinn and a layup off a turnover by Chinn to regain a narrow 38-36 lead at the half.

The Mustangs upped their lead to seven, 47-40, early in the third period after a three by Chinn and layups by Fry and Sherman who had a total of 11 in the stanza.

The Thunder Hawks though came battling back with what proved to be a decisive 18-5 run to rally into the lead for good at 58-52.

Eubanks scored 12, Bells 6 and Graham 5 in the period for Tapestry which held a 63-59 lead at the three-quarter mark.

The Thunder Hawks finally pulled away for good by opening the final period with an 11-3 run to open up a 13 point, 74-61.The Mustangs could get no closer than 11 down the stretch.

Bell and Eubanks both scored 8 to lead Tapestry in the final stanza while Sherman had 9 for Medina.

Now at 2-8, Medina next visits Central Christian Academy in a non league make-up game on Wednesday. The Mustangs return to Niagara-Orleans League competition by hosting Akron on Friday.
