Sparks romp to win over Mustangs
Taking charge early, South Park rolled to a 64-37 win over host Medina in a non league boys basketball game this evening.
Breaking away from an early 7-7 tie, South Park moved on top to stay by closing the opening period with a 14-0 run to move out to a 21-7 lead. Two threes by Davon White highlighted that uprising.
The Sparks then broke the contest wide open by outscoring the Mustangs 19-6 in the second period to race away to a commanding 27 point, 40-13, half-time advantage. Anthony Mack hit two threes and Lenny Cruz added three baskets during that stretch which saw the Sparks lead by as many as 30 at 39-9.
South Park maintained a 30 point, 55-25, lead at the three-quarter mark.
Mack finished with a game high 21 for the Sparks as White added 13 and Cruz 10.
Tyler Chinn led Medina with 11 as Dontae Rhim added 8, Christian Drisdom 7, Joe Cecchini and Jarin Rhim 4 each and Brian Fry 3.
Now at 1-2, Medina next visits Central Christian Academy for another non league game on Wednesday before opening the Niagara-Orleans League season at Barker on Friday.
