Kendall blanks Notre Dame in girls soccer

A quick goal ignited Kendall to a 4-0 victory over host Notre Dame this afternoon in a Genesee Region League girls soccer game.

Hailee Mitchell scored just eight minutes in off an assist from Lizzy Woodams to put Kendall on top to stay.

Grace Levett upped the Kendall lead to 2-0 at the half when she scored her first goal of the season midway through the half as Madison Jacob earned the assist.

The Lady Eagles then put a lock on the victory on second half goals by Kari Harrier, her first of the season, and Mitchell, her team leading ninth.

Kailie Regan made 6 saves to earn the shutout in goal.

Kendall, which improves to 5-1 in the league and 7-1 overall, next hosts Newark at 12 p.m. Saturday for Homecoming.

In another G-R contest, Byron-Bergen defeated visiting Lyndonville/Medina 9-1.

Ella Lewis scored the lone goal for the Lady Tigers which trailed 4-0 at the half.

Volleyball

Oakfield-Alabama/Elba defeated Holley 25-12, 25-18, 25-9 this evening  in a Genesee Region League volleyball match.

Brianna Smith had 7 kills and 2 aces, Leah Bezon 4 aces, Emily Hollabaugh 2 aces and 2 kills and Laci Sewar 2 aces for OAE which improves to 5-1.

Ava Parr had 4 kills and 1 ace and Jade Hoffarth 2 kills for Holley which slips to 3-5.

In another G-R match, undefeated (7-0) Byron-Bergen downed Lyndonville 25-6, 25-13, 25-19 as Lexi Vurraro had 7 aces, Abby Vurrare 6 aces, Madison Farnsworth 4 aces and 1 kill and Hannah Van Skiver 4 aces and 3 kills.
