Rams sweep doubleheader from Raiders
Staying in the thick of the Niagara-Orleans League baseball title race, defending champion Roy-Hart swept a doubleheader from Barker this evening by scores of 7-0 and 16-1 to improve to 7-2.
Tom Russo III had a big three run double in the third inning and an RBI single in the sixth to key the Roy-Hart offense in the opener.
Karl Darling picked up the win on the mound allowing 1 hit with 8 strikeouts in four innings of work.
In the second game, Russo had a three-run double in the first inning and Gavyn Boyle a two-run triple in the second to help spark the Rams out to an early 7-0 lead.
Charlie Bruning later had an RBI triple and Boyle and RBI double to highlight a six run fourth inning.
Roy-Hart now faces a key doubleheader on Saturday at Medina’s Vets Park taking on Akron at 9 a.m. and Albion at 11:30 a.m.
Newfane 7, Albion 2
Albion managed only three hits in the 7-2 loss at Newfane.
Thomas Furmanski had two hits and drove in both of the Purple Eagles runs in the top of the third inning for a brief 2-0 lead.
Garrett Srock picked up the win on the mound for Newfane striking out 8. He also had three hits including a double.
Cade Littman also had 3 hits including a pair of doubles, for the Panthers as Tyler Oudette and Hunter Jurek each chipped in with a pair of hits and Caden Gibson a double.
Alexander 5, Holley 4
Alexander edged past Holley 5-4 in a Genesee Region League game played at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown.
