R-H girls down Medina to hold two game lead
Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Roy-Hart’s Jamie Bower banged out two home runs and an RBI triple during the Lady Rams win over Medina at Vets Park this afternoon.
Defending champion Roy-Hart maintained a two game league lead by downing Medina 13-5 this afternoon in a key Niagara-Orleans softball game at Vets Park.
Roy-Hart stays unbeaten in N-O action at 8-0 while Medina slips three games off the pace at 6-3. Wilson at 5-2 and Akron at 4-2 are two games off the pace in the all important loss column.
Leading 1-0, Roy-Hart began to pull away by scoring three times in the third inning on an RBI triple by Jamie Bower and run producing singles by winning pitcher Mallory Steiner and Ashley Hill.
The Lady Rams then broke the contest open by erupting for seven runs in the fourth frame highlighted by a two-run home run by Bower and a solo homer by Steiner. Lexie Lovewell also banged out a two-run single and Shelby Wolf an RBI single. A single by Jayden Townsend and a double by Sam Choate set up the uprising.
Bower also belted another two-run home in the fifth inning following a double by Wolf.
Bower and Townsend both finished with 3 hits as Maddie Fry, Steiner, Hill and Wolf each had 2.
Ashlee Howell and Morgan Allis both had 3 hits for Medina as Lacey Kenward and Paige Adkins both had 2.
Morgan’s hits included a three-run triple which highlighted a four run fifth inning. Kenward’s hits included an RBI double in the sixth.
Rain washed out the Newfane at Albion doubleheader.
