Albion ‘9’ blanks Barker; Kendall tops Elba
Regaining the .500 mark at 4-4, Albion blanked visiting Barker 10-0 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game.
Vincent Zona picked up the win on the mound for the Purple Eagles allowing 3 hits and striking out 4 over the first four innings.
Albion took a quick 5-0 lead in the first inning on a single by Zona, three walks and a pair of errors.
The Purple Eagles tacked on two runs in the second on an RBI single by Bryce Pritchard and an RBI single by Isaiah Callicutt. A double by Thomas Furmanski set up the threat.
A double by Liam Ward and a single by Furmanski then plated two more runs in the third inning.
Kendall 12, Elba 8
Trailing 4-2, Kendall took the lead for god by scoring four times in the fifth inning highlighted by a two-run triple by Mason Kuhn to key a 12-8 Genesee Region League win over Elba.
Elba did close the gap to 9-8 but Kendall finally put a lock on the victory by scoring three times in the top of the seventh as John Rath had a two-run double.
Kuhn, Rath and Hunter Menze each finished with 3 hits and Brian Shaw 2.
Kendall also completed the final two innings of a suspended game against Kendall and dropped a 15-13 decision. The contest had been tied 7-7 when play was suspended.
G-R Softball
Lyndonville 19, Wheatland-Chili 1
Lyndonville erupted for 8 runs in the second inning and 11 more in the third to key a 19-1 victory over visiting Wheatland-Chili in a G-R softball contest.
Megan Krisher, Anna Lewis and Cassie Boyce each had 2 hits, including a double, and Lorelei Dillenbeck a triple to highlight the offense for Lyndonville which improves to 5-1 in the league and 7-1 overall.
