Yankees, Orioles win youth baseball openers

The Woodroe Realty Medina Yankees opened the LOYAL Baseball season with a win 5-1 over the Champs Medina Cubs Saturday.

Brody Fry and Tyler Kroening both pitched 3 strong innings striking out 8 batters each.

At the plate, Kroening had a double an 2 RBI’s, Aiden Wisniewski and Theodore Champney both had singles.  Scoring runs for the Yankees were Jimmy Dieter, Theodore Champney, Milo Vidovich, and 2 runs by Wisniewski.

Lukas Grimes and Vinny Gray had strong pitching outings for the Cubs as both struck out 8 batters each.

Ryan Pegelow recorded several tag outs at home, and Ryder Jones caught a key pop fly in the fifth inning with bases loaded to end the inning.

Orioles 9, Pirates 2
The Medina Orioles win 9 to 2 over the Medina Pirates in Minor League action.  Hitting for the Orioles were Anthony Reese with a single, double, and triple, Steven Gobeli a double, and single, Sawyer Lilleby  two doubles, and a triple, Brennan Allen a single, and two doubles, William Tagg a double and a single, and both Maddox Smith and Tyler Draper singles.

Hitting for the Pirates was lead by Lathan McEwen-Miller with a double and a homerun. Also with hits were Devin Fuller with a double, and Daniel Diaz a single.

Pitching for the Orioles was lead by Sawyer Lilleby hurling 3 great innings, Steven Gobeli pitched 2, and Brennan Allen closed with the final inning.

Pitching for the Pirates were Shane Fearby, Talia Rupp, Latham McEwen-Miller, and Devin Fuller.
