Albion first edged past Kenmore East 2-1 and then downed Aquinas 10-4 in a non league doubleheader this afternoon on the Purple Eagles diamond.

Liam Ward and Thomas Furmanski combined to hurl a one hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Purple Eagles in the narrow opening win over the Bulldogs.

Ward also drove in Albion’s first run with a homer in the third inning.

Vincent Zona then drove in what proved to be the game winner for the Purple Eagles with an RBI single in the fourth frame.

The Purple Eagles then scored in each of the first five innings to best Aquinas.

Singles by Zona and Bryce Pritchard keyed a two-run first inning as did hits by Michael Harling and Patrick Ricker in a two-run second frame.

The Purple Eagles capped off the win with four runs in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Zona and RBI singles by Ward, Isaiah Callicutt and Pritchard.

Albion is now 5-2 overall.
