Lady Rams split twin bill to begin Florida trip
The Roy-Hart softball squad earned a split today against Western New York foes as the Lady Rams opened their Easter break trip at the ESPN complex in Orlando, Florida.
Roy-Hart lost to Williamsville South 23-12 in the opener but rebounded to defeat Maple Grove 11-1.
In the opener, Roy-Hart erupted for seven runs in the third inning to take a 10-9 lead as Jamie Bower had a two-run double, Maddie Fry a two-run single and Mallory Steiner an RBI single.
Fry and Reanna Perkins both had 3 hits in the game. Perkins’ hits included a triple.
However, Will South answered back with a big nine run sixth inning scoring burst to claim the win.
In the second game, Roy-Hart scored six runs on six hits in the second inning to key the win over Maple Grove.
Lexie Lovewell had an RBI triple to key a two run first inning and Claire Halstead added a solo home run in the fourth for the Lady Rams.
Fry and Jayden Townsend both had 3 hits. Fry’s hits included a double and triple.
Roy-Hart will next face a New Jersey foe in a doubleheader on Monday morning.
