6-day stretch with highs in 90s starts today

Today is the start of a six-day stretch where the high temperatures will hit at least 90 degrees in Orleans County.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo warns there will be a prolonged period of heat and humidity across the region this week. Heat indices will likely peak in the 95 to 100 degree range each afternoon from Tuesday through Friday.

Today is forecast to be sunny and hot with a high near 90, followed by a sunny and hot Monday with a high of 90.

Tuesday will be sunny and hot with a high of 92, followed by sunny and hot on Wednesday with a high of 93.

Thursday will be even hotter with a high of 94, followed by a high of 93 on Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

Saturday the high is forecast to be 87.
