Five way N-O baseball title chase; three way softball race are heading into stretch run

With just two weeks remaining in the regular season and five teams still in the title chase nearly every remaining game will have an impact on the race for the Niagara-Orleans League baseball championship.

Akron is currently in sole possession of first place at 5-1. The Tigers though hold a slender one game lead over a trio of two loss teams including Roy-Hart (6-2), Medina (4-2) and Wilson (3-2). Albion, which is 3-3, is also still in the title hunt.

All four teams facing a challenging week of at least four games.

Akron is scheduled to visit Wilson on Monday, Newfane on Wednesday, host Newfane on Friday and visit Medina on Saturday.

Roy-Hart will host Medina on Monday, Barker on Wednesday, visit Albion on Thursday and visit Barker on Friday.

Medina, in addition to the road game at Roy-Hart and the home game against Akron, has a home and home series against Wilson on Wednesday and Friday.

Wilson and Albion will also meet in a home and home series on Thursday and Saturday. The Purple Eagles will also visit Newfane on Monday.

The N-O softball title race is a three-way battle heading into the final full week.

Akron at 6-1 currently holds a narrow half game lead over Barker and Wilson which are both 6-2.

Akron has a very busy five game week vs. Medina on Monday, Wilson on Wednesday and Saturday, Newfane on Thursday and Barker on Friday.

Barker will face Newfane on Monday, Medina Wednesday, Roy-Hart Thursday and Akron Friday.

Wilson, in addition to the key home and home series against Akron, will face Medina on Thursday and Albion on Monday May 15 which is the day before the sectional seeding meeting.
