KNOWLESVILLE – Orleans County 4-H’er Lydia Scharlau of Medina gives a demonstration on hot chocolate during her public presentation on Saturday.  Lydia prepared a hot chocolate mix during her talk. She said the recipe was handed down to her from her grandmother.

The 4-H Public Presentations Program gives 4-H’ers an opportunity to improve public speaking skills. Participants select a topic of their choice and present either an illustrated talk, demonstration, formal speech, recitation, or dramatic interpretation.

Grace Gregoire of Murray presents on hedge hogs. She was accompanied by her own hedge hog, Spike.

Spike the Hedge Hog seemed to enjoy being the center of attention during Grace Gregoire’s public presentation.

Other topics covered by 4-H’ers on Saturday included, “How to Thrive in the Nether,” “Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Life,” “Ancient Rome,” and “Rottweilers.”
