3 days of extreme heat in forecast

The next three days will be hot with highs at 88 today, followed by 91 on Tuesday and 87 on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued an a heat advisory for today from noon to 8 p.m. for Orleans and many other counties including Monroe, Wayne, northern Cayuga, Livingston and Ontario.

The heat index will reach the mid-90s. “The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible,” the Weather Service said.

People are urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check in on relatives and neighbors.
