Medina High’s Melanie Green captured a third straight Section VI title and then claimed a second straight state golf championship which was held at theDearfield course near Brockport.
Interestingly the tourney was a repeat of the 2018 state title’s 1-2 finish as Green completed the two day event with a one stroke, one over par total of 145 to edge Bailey Shoemaker from Section IV, who posted a 146, for the title. The year before Green bested Shoemaker for the title by two shots.
Green, who has signed a Letter of Intent to play golf at South Florida, also won the Western New York JR PGA title for the second year in a row, made the cut at the U.S. Women’s Amateur championship and finished sixth at the Girls Junior PGA Championship.
She also earned Honorable Mention n the American Junior Golf Association’s Jr. All America Team.
