Lady Tigers advance to Class D1 semifinals
Six extra base hits highlighted the attack as No. 2 seed Lyndonville defeated No. 7 Genesee Valley/Belfast 14-6 in the Section V Class D1 softball quarterfinals this afternoon at Oakfield-Alabama.
Addison Dillenbeck had 3 hits, including 2 home runs, Lorelei Dillenbeck 3, including a double, winning pitcher Haley Shaffer 2, including a home run, Brooke Robinson 2, including a triple and Kayli Miller 2, including a double for the Lady Tigers.
Addison Dillenbeck’s first homer highlighted a three run third inning which put Lyndonville up 4-0.
Genesee Valley/Belfast pulled to within 4-3 in the top of the fourth but would get no closer as Lyndonville answered right back with a big six run uprising in the home half of the frame. A two-run homer by Shaffer, a two-run triple by Robinson and an RBI double by Lorelei Dillenbeck keyed that scoring burst.
The Lady Tigers tacked on 4 runs in the fifth as Addison Dillenbeck homered and Miller had an RBI double.
Shaffer registered 8 strikeouts in the circle.
Improving to 14-3, Lyndonville will next face No. 3 Honeoye in the semifinals on Thursday. Honeoye ousted No. 6 Avoca/Prattsburg 8-6.
