The 2021 10U Orleans County Outlaws concluded their season by winning the Fairport Little League Wood Bat World Series Tournament this past weekend.

With help from a few 2022 12U Outlaws players, the team was able to pull off the upset victory on Sunday over the 12U Fulton Fury team, capping off the undefeated weekend and bringing home the championship.

The Outlaws were 2-0-1 during pool play Friday and Saturday and secured the number one seed in their bracket.  They beat the 12U Webster Warthogs 5-3 Sunday morning, avenging their lone tie from the tournament and sending them to the championship game.

In the championship game, the Outlaws, who were the third youngest team at the tournament, outlasted the oldest and biggest team, the Fury, with an intense 1-0 win.

The outsized Outlaws were led on the mound by Jonny Conte from Kendall who threw 3 scoreless innings.  He was followed by CJ D’Agostino, also from Kendall, who threw 1.2 scoreless innings.  Aidan Papaj from Medina completed the shutout getting the final 4 outs of the game, three by strikeout, including the final hitter of the game.

The Outlaws team, led by Will Shultz, played stellar defense all day.  The team committed 0 errors in the finals while making multiple run/game-saving plays.

The game was scoreless until the top of the 6th inning when Conte hit a 1-out double over the left fielder and then came around to score the game’s lone run after his younger brother Sammy Conte hit an opposite field single to knock in his elder sibling.  This proved to be the game-winning run.

Orleans County’s own Sammy Conte, Jonny Conte, CJ D’Agostino, Andrew D’Agostino, and Papaj completed the weekend by allowing a combined 2 earned runs while they were pitching over 5 games.  Offensively, CJ D’Agostino hit .429 over the full weekend, followed by Grant Disteffan who hit .364, and Jonny who hit .308, all for the first time hitting with wood in a game.

The 10U Outlaws finished the season with a 17-4-1 record and are looking forward to the 2022 season where the Outlaws organization will field teams at the 8U, 9U, 11U, 12U, 14U, and 17U levels.  For more information, search Orleans Outlaws on Facebook.
