1 person dies in Akron fire

AKRON – One person has died from a fire just past midnight last night in Akron, State Police are reporting.
State Troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to Buell Street in the village of Akron for a two-family apartment fire. The rear occupants were able to safely escape the apartment fire. But the other apartment has one victim who died in the fire, State Police said.
That person was taken to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification. State Police are working with Erie County Fire Investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Further information will be released as the investigation continues.
