A large contingent of 11 returning seniors anchors the lineup for the Kendall boys varsity soccer squad as the Eagles prep to defend their Genesee Region League Division 1 title.

That senior group includes Will Condo (defender), Mookie Nauden (midfield), Justin Barrett (attack), Riley Iqbal (midfield), Riley Ries (midfield/goalie), Skyler Heller (midfield), Keith Salyer (goalie), Jon Steffen (defender), Sage Summers (attack), Cody Travis (midfield) and Zach Vogt (defender.

Condo had 10 goals and 8 assists, Iqbal 10 goals and 7 assists and Nauden 4 goals last fall as Kendall went 8-1-1 in the league and 14-2-1 overall.

Sophomore attacker Jake Adams also returns with varsity experience for the Eagles whose main losses to graduation were goalie Garett Love and midfielder Alex Sutphen (11 goals, 15 assists).

“We’ve got a good core group of three year varsity players and with 11 seniors there is no excuse for us not hitting the ground running,” said Coach Brian Duffy. “The biggest change will be our depth. We only have 15 players this year while we had 21 last season so that all be the biggest change. But with those 11 seniors we have a real good core group.”

The Eagles will tune up for the G-R campaign by competing in the Sodus Tournament this Friday and Saturday taking on Webster Christian in the opening round. The G-R opener is September 8 at Wheatland-Chili.
