Roy-Hart downs Medina in Midget ‘A’ action; Lyndonville posts shutout win
Scoring early and often, Roy-Hart romped to an 11-1 victory over Medina in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game this evening at Gasport.
In other Midget ‘A’ action, Lyndonville blanked host Lockport 4-0 to improve to 4-1.
Al Xapsos banged out 3 hits while Austin Heschke and Aaron Metz both had 2 to lead the way at the plate for Roy-Hart which regains the .500 mark at 3-3.
Brad Wilson went the distance on the mound for Roy-Hart allowing 3 hits and striking out 7.
Doug Bachman had 2 hits for Medina which slips to 1-2.
Roy-Hart grabbed a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning on singles by Xapsos and CJ Fitch, a double by Heschke and an error.
The advantage doubled to 6-0 in the second inning as hits by Xapsos and Heschke along with a pair of errors plated three more runs.
The Roy-Hart lead jumped to 8-0 in the third as a single by Metz, a walk and 2 more errors drove in two more runs.
Metz and Xapsos also had hits during a three run fourth inning which saw two more errors plate runs.
Lyndonville 4, Lockport 0
Ty Hrovat hurled a 1 hitter with 8 strikeouts to lead Lyndonville past Lockport 4-0.
Leading 1-0, Lyndonville broke the contest open by scoring three times in the fifth inning on a two-run triple by Chris Scroger and an RBI single by Trevor Bentley. A Single by Michael Wells and a walk set up the threat.
The loss drops Lockport to 1-4.
