Roy-Hart 2 tops Medina to gain final Midget ‘B’ playoff berth
Roy-Hart 2 earned the fourth and final playoff berth by defeating Medina 8-3 this afternoon in a key Lockport Midget ‘B’ League make-up game at Gasport.
Roy-Hart scored two quick runs in the first inning on a two-run single by winning pitcher Justin Heschke who hurled the final six innings.
A two-run single by Connor Heiser in the third inning then put Roy-Hart on top to stay at 4-2. Roy-Hart broke the game open with three runs in the fourth as Walker Sananka, Brendon Hess and Ben Maynard all had hits.
Medina scored single runs in both the first and second innings without the benefit of a hit. The other run came in the seventh on a hit by Cyrus MacFarland. Medina’s only hits were singles by Tyler Howard in the fifth inning and Hunter Sturtevant and MacFarland, both in the seventh.
The semifinal round of the playoffs will be at 5:30 Monday as Roy-Hart 2 visits Lockport and Roy-Hart 1 hosts Medina.
The best two out of three championship series is set to begin on Wednesday.
