Staying alive in the battle for third place honors, Lyndonville senior Tony Recco scored a pair of consolation round victories this evening at the state Division 2 (small schools) wrestling championships at Albany.

Rebounding from an opening round 2-1 loss to Ryan Hetrick of Maple Grove (Section 6), Recco battled back to score a 15-0 technical fall victory over Jordan Sartin of Galway (Section 2) and a 5-0 decision win over Jon Lauricella of LeRoy (Section 5).

Recco is looking to keep the momentum and score three more wins on Saturday to earn third place honors for the second year in a row.

Lyndonville’s other entrant, sophomore Jeff Gress Jr., was eliminated after decision losses of 11-2 to Jacob Nolan of Saranac (Section 7) and 7-3 to Vin Micelli of Port Jefferson (Section 11).
