Rams, Panthers split in track
Improving to 2-3, Roy-Hart nipped visiting Newfane 72-69 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League boys track meet.
Newfane gained a split on the day by downing Roy-Hart 101-40 in the girls meet.
Alex Stoddard was a triple winner for the Roy-Hart boys in the high jump (5-10), long jump (18-5.75) and triple jump (37-6.5).
The Rams also got individual event wins from Kyle Shanahan in the 110 hurdles (:17.40), Ben Wertth in the 400 (:57.7) and Eugene Bush in the 800 (2:17.1).
Roy-Hart added wins in both the 1600 relay with Werth, Roy Phipps, Bush and Lyle Wagner (3:46.1) and the 3200 relay with Bush, Avery Green, Wagner and Phipps (9:03).
Newfane, which slips to 3-2, got double win efforts from Paul Dunbar in the pole vault (14-6) and 400 hurdles (1:05.8) and Kevin Burdick in the 100 (:12.0) and shot-put (40-10.5).
Alora Sinott led the Newfane girls with wins in the 100 hurdles (:17.4), 400 hurdles (1:16.2), 100 (:14.3) and 200 (:30.5).
Emma Lindke won the long jump (14-6) and Chelsea Herriven the 3000 (12:50.3) for Roy-Hart.
Newfane is now 1-4 and Roy-Hart 0-5.
